What makes a bathroom remodel last?
What is behind the tile, not the tile itself. The single biggest difference between a bathroom that lasts decades and one that fails in a few years is the waterproofing layer, the slope of the shower pan and how the niches, corners and drain are detailed. Tile is the part you see; it is the part that matters least to the lifespan.
Most bathroom failures we get called to repair are the same story: water got behind a shower wall through an unsealed corner or a badly sloped pan, sat in the framing, and nobody knew until the ceiling below stained or the floor felt soft. Doing it right costs a little more once. Doing it twice costs the tile, the framing, the drywall and often the ceiling underneath.

Signs your bathroom needs more than a facelift
If the floor flexes or the ceiling below is stained, the problem is structural — new tile over it will fail again.
- Soft or springy floor near the tub or toilet — the subfloor is wet.
- Cracked or loose tiles, or grout that keeps failing — movement underneath.
- Staining on the ceiling below the bathroom — an active leak.
- Persistent mildew smell — moisture trapped in the wall or missing ventilation.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A straightforward tub-to-shower conversion is usually about one to two weeks. A full gut and rebuild typically runs two to four weeks, longer if the layout changes or the village requires inspections between stages.
Can you convert my tub into a walk-in shower?
Yes — it is one of the most common projects we do, and it is worth doing properly: the pan has to be re-sloped and the whole wet area re-waterproofed, not just re-tiled. Curbless and grab-bar-ready options are available for accessibility.
Do you handle the plumbing?
The plumbing is performed by licensed trades and inspected where required. We coordinate and schedule it as your general contractor, so the whole bathroom is one contract with one point of contact.
