Can a roofer handle my insurance claim in Illinois?

No — and any roofer who says otherwise is breaking the law. In Illinois, only a licensed public adjuster can negotiate or adjust your claim. A roofing contractor may inspect and document the damage and provide a repair estimate, but cannot represent you with the insurer. We keep the two roles separate and legal.

That's not a loophole — it's how you stay protected. State Restoration Services handles the inspection, documentation and construction. Our affiliated State Adjusting Services is a licensed Illinois public adjuster that can represent you on the claim itself. You get expert help on both sides from people who work together every day. (This is required under the Illinois public-adjuster statute, regulated by the Illinois Department of Insurance.)

What counts

What storm damage does insurance usually cover?

Sudden damage from a covered event is commonly eligible. That includes hail impacts, wind-lifted or missing shingles, damaged flashing, dented vents and gutters, and leaks that follow a storm. Gradual wear, age and neglect are typically not covered — which is why documenting the storm quickly, with photos and dates, matters so much.

Hail and straight-line wind roll through the north and northwest suburbs nearly every storm season, and the damage often isn't visible from the ground (NOAA's Storm Prediction Center tracks these events). A bruised shingle can pass a curbside glance and still fail two winters later — so our inspection puts every hit on paper while the cause is fresh.

Real result

"$41,000 — after they turned me down twice."

That's a verified Google review from a homeowner whose carrier denied the claim two times before the damage was properly documented and adjusted. The outcome: a new roof and new siding. We can't promise a dollar figure — every claim is different — but we can promise the damage will be documented thoroughly and handled the legal way.

FAQ

Storm & insurance questions

Is the roof inspection really free?

Yes — completely free and no-obligation. We inspect your roof, gutters and siding, document any storm damage with photos, and give you an honest written report you can keep whether or not you file a claim.

Can you deal with my insurance company for me?

As a roofing contractor, we document the damage and provide a detailed estimate for your carrier — but Illinois law doesn't allow a roofer to negotiate the claim. For that, our affiliated licensed Illinois public adjuster, State Adjusting Services, can represent you directly.

What kind of storm damage qualifies?

Hail impacts, wind-lifted or missing shingles, damaged flashing, dented vents and gutters, and leaks after a storm are all commonly covered. Wear-and-tear and age usually aren't. Our free inspection tells you exactly what you're dealing with.

How fast can you come out?

We respond quickly to active leaks and storm damage across the Chicago suburbs during business hours (Mon to Sat), including temporary tarping to stop further water intrusion. Call (866) 992-2982 and we'll prioritize your home.
